Sometimes, you just have to let go and sail to where the wind takes you. So many artists need to do it. So many need to let go of what they know, do, and sometimes even sell successfully and start a search for new subject matter. It’s a pity they keep drying up the well of their talent.

I think it is an artists imperative to do the same.
Well, the waters of life are known to overturn rafts thought perfectly hard for sailing previously. Anna Karenina is all about it, for one ) Tolstoy – a great artist himself – believed not in the search of truth, but in the spreading of goodwill and kindness as the objective, at that the only one that justifies living. Yet, what I can wholeheartedly agree with, is that if wealth becomes the objective of an artist, it is the death of art )
I agree with Tolstoy. However artists do reveal truths. For example, Picasso’s Guernica revealed a truth about human brutality and Rothko’s Light Red on Black revealed a truth about the concept of infinity.
As for artists pursuing wealth as an objective, that would be a serious delusion. I cannot think that any true artist would begin their life thinking that such an intention was going to make them wealthy. Although, they might hope that one day they will be able to live without having to worry so much about money.
What is the death of art is when one subjugates their faculty of creation to the will of the stomach or the rational mind.

I must say sometimes it is good for the public, the viewer, and not so good for the artist, But they get a page in the art hisory book through that )
